Chinese woman taking a picture of a photograph at the Marc Riboud Retrospective Photograph Exhibition - Shanghai Art Museum
From March 6th to April 2nd, Shanghai Art Museum has displayed 118 photographs taken by the renowned French photographer Marc Riboud. Riboud was born in Lyon in 1923. He was among one of the first European photographers to go to China in 1957. He made several trips to North Vietnam in the 60’s and 70’s and though he travelled all around the world, he has always had a particular fondness of photographing Asia. He has witnessed the atrocities of war and the cultural degradation of the Cultural Revolution, but has also captured beautiful sun-soaked images of every day life. Riboud developed the photos anew for this exhibition, and has included some never before seen works as well.
