The Canal de Castilla was initiated by Margrave de la Ensenada in 1753. It is a construction about 207 kilometers which were built between 1753 and 1849, including 4 sluices. It was considered a masterpiece of modern engineering in this time and should turn the transport ways by water in Castilla more effective. Fromista is an important stage of the St. James Way in Spain.
