The search, however, was evi-dently not made in the right direction as the original of, this important letter has been in the authors possession for years, and hascertainly been in Indiana for over half acentury. It was long in the possessionof the authors old friend. John eminent Indiana judge, statesmanand historian, and his worthy E. Law, turned it over to theauthor.
