Habits and Habitat: The Pectoral Sandpiper is a breeding bird of the tundra, passing through Kansas on its way both north and south. It is one of the larger sandpipers and frequents the grassy edges of marshes, flooded fields, and river bars. Field Marks: The sharp line of demarcation on the breast and the large size will help to separate this sandpiper from the other "; It may be confused with the Sharp-tailed Sandpiper (Calidris acuminata), but the latter has a more rufous crown and its breast is suffused with a.
