Yarmouth's fishing heyday was lnked to the to the prosperity created by its large fleet catching large amounts of "silver darlings" (herring), many of which were used for kippers. By the time this photo was taken the industry was already in decline. It barely survived WWII though some vessels remained until the 1970s
