Snorkeler and Elkhorn Coral (Acropora palmata)
Snorkeler views a healthy stand of Elkhorn coral (Acropora palmata) on a reef near the North Sound, Grand Cayman. Elkhorn coral is known as a branching coral and grows in the shallow areas of the reef crest, serving to break up the wave action as it comes over the reef.
