Knoble, Cleveland, were also in at- tendance. E. J. Fancourt, Philadelphia, a member of the committee, wired his inability to be present on account of sickness in his family. The first session opened with the pres- entation of the secretary's report, which was quite lengthy, dealing with the finances and the distribution of dealers' helps. Before reading the re- port, Secretary Young reviewed the ac- tion taken at the Buffalo meeting of the committee in regard to the appropria- tion made for magazine advertising during 1920, action which had to be taken at that time in order to obtain contracts at the rates then existing, which were expected to materially ad- vance at the opening of the new year. The instructions then given to the ad- vertising agency were based upon the expectancy of a continuance of the in- flux of subscriptions to the publicity fund at about the same rate as before, but since the meeting subscriptions had fallen off to such an extent that it was evidently a dangerous course to build too much upon futures and reliance would have to be placed more upon the Kansas City, Mo.
