Bai marble industry, China. Bai labourer transporting in a shoulder strap a block of Dali marble weighing 70 kilograms. The Bai people are an ethnic minority population in China, mostly living in the area in and around Dali City and Erhai Lake, in China's south-western Yunnan Province. Dali marble is a highly-prized ornamental stone, and its quarrying, transport and carving is a major industry for the Bai people.
