Thames Water have been discharging sewage from the Chesham Sewage Treatment Works into the precious River Chess Chalk Stream (pictured) in Chesham, Buckinghamshire for a staggering consecutive period of more than 504 hours. Measurements by the River Chess Association show that dissolved oxygen levels compare to 84% in the river upstream but they fall to 64% in the river downstream of the sewage discharges.
