It was hoped that the cold wave which hit New England September 10 and 11, and caused destruction among tender vegetable crops, would kill off sufficient outdoor flowers to brace up the market, but, while many gladioli were killed, asters survived nearly everywhere. Dahlias were practically wiped out, but they have never amounted to much as market flowers in Boston. Asters con- tinue abundant and of splendid quality and many have to be cleared at low prices. Gladioli are on the wane and prices have improved a little. Eoses are in heavy supply,
