View across the old city of Sana'a the capital city of Yemen with the traditional design buildings. This area made up the whole of the capital up to around 1962 when the building of modern Sana'a took city area is composed of approximately 14,000 tower houses which vary from 4 storeys to 9 exposed red brick and white brick made up patterns on the are covered by wooden shutters to allow women to see out but outsides are prevented from seeing in. The highest floor is reserved for the mafraj, a special room reserved for groups to chew the qat leaves and take in the view across the city.
