Barrenwort or Bishop's Hat, Epimedium versicolor 'Sulphureum', Berberidaceae. Barren Wort aka Yellow Fairy Wings or Persian Barrenwort is a rhizomatous evergreen perennial, slowly spreading and clump forming. Leaves with 5 to 11 ovate to heart shaped, spine toothed leaflets. Leaves are brown and copper red in youth and turn mid green with age. Flowers are dark yellow and is a hybrid of two Eurasian species E grandiflorum and E pinnatum colchicum. Grows well in dark shady places as ground cover.
