Hayling Island Wednesday 29th June 2016 Sadly a man has died this afternoon on a popular nature trail on Hayling Island. Emergency services were called just before this morning to reports of a man who is believed to have fallen off a bicycle in a wooded area on the Billy Trail. A passing dog walker raised the alarm after finding the man and his bike on the ground. Emergency services were called just before this morning to reports of a man who is believed to have fallen off a bicycle in a wooded area on the Billy Trail. A passing dog walker raised the alarm after finding the man and his bike on the ground. Police cordoned off the nature trail while they dealt with the incident which is not being treated as suspicious. A Hampshire spokesman added: "Officers were called at today following the sudden death of a 52-year-old man close to Denhill Close on Hayling Island. "The death is not being treated as suspicious and a file will be prepared for the coroner in due course." South Central Ambulance Service spokeswoman, Michelle Archer, said that they had received a call at and some crew were sent to Denhill Close near to the trail. She added, "We sent a variety of resources including the Hampshire and Isle of Wight Air Ambulance, a community responder, a rapid response vehicle, an ambulance crew, an ambulance officer and the emergency care response unit. "They were assessing and treating a gentleman who sadly was confirmed deceased at the scene. "I understand it was a cycling accident.©UKNIP
