KiN( ston, , Sc i W- d Saving occasion recently to erecl a new comP mnd for the Greal Eastern (-? ? 11 i < ? i _\, al Springs, the wriler set about designing a cheaper type ofbuilding than the one generally used for housingnatives. It was first decided to erecl a wood and ironbuilding. To save framing, it a] that a curved ir<m roof was desirable. To lessen thetraining in the walls, it was sought to reducethese to a minimum, and as a natural conseqiit was finally decided to eliminate the wallsaltogether. This was done, and the building, aserected, consists simply of ;t corrugated-iron roofresting on a magnesite concrete floor. The section of the building i- a 3cmi-circlewith a radius nf 14 ft. The radius w;\s fixed by. END \TIoN. the Regulation that provides that in calculatingthe cubical air space of rooms with two tiers ofbunks, no allowance is made for space above14 ft. from the floor. The rooms are therefore28 ft. long and 14 ft. high. They are made 21 to accommodate 32 boys with 200 cub. air space per boy.
