Saenger/Horus orbital injection. High in the atmosphere, the Horus spacecraft seperates from its Saenger carrier. Saenger is a German design of spaceplane for cheap orbital launch capacity. The Saenger carrier would take off from a conventional runway and climb to an altitude of 37,000 metres and a speed of Mach The Horus upper stage would then be released, using rockets to achieve orbit. Saenger would be powered by turbojets from take off to 20,000 metres, with ramjets taking over from that altitude. Both Saenger and Horus will be reusable. Current plans would indicate a first flight some time after 2005, complimenting ESA's Hermes shuttle.
