Devils Thumb stands distinctively higher than other granite peaks in Stikine Icefield. Cloaked with hanging glaciers, it's name is Taalkhunaxhkʼu Shaa in Native Tlingit language, which means "the mountain that never flooded." The sheer cliffs covered in ice are often unstable creating avalanches making it a technical challenge for advanced mountain climbers.
