This sewer pipe was uncovered at excavations at Morgantina, an archaeological center in east-central Sicily. The photo dates to 1970. Note the covered holes - the lids on top of the holes allow for 3 fingers to pick up the lids for those working on the pipes to gain access to get in to see where a stoppage is, after being reported.
