Egyptian Goddess Serqet

Serqet (also spelled Selket, Serket, Selkis, Selkit) was the ancient Egyptian scorpion goddess. A statue of her, with the figure of a scorpion on her head, as in this 1904 illustration, was found in King Tut's tomb. Honored as a protector goddess and as a patron of magic, she was believed to punish wrongdoers. In this illustration, she carries the ankh, the symbol of life, in one hand and a was scepter in the other .
