Skull hyostylic ; supraoccipitalbone present, splenial absent. Heart without muscular bulbus aortas, orwith the bulb much reduced and with a single row (exceptionally tworows) of valves. Suborder I. MALACOPTERYGII. Air-bladder, if present, communicating with the digestive tract by aduct. Pectoral arch suspended from the skull; mesocoracoid archpresent.
