His fame as a painter soon spreadabroad, and he was frequentlv called to Philadelphia and other cities andtowns in Eastern Pennsylvania to paint portraits, etc. In the painting ofminiatures and female heads he had few equals anywhere. He remained inEaston, loved and esteemed b\ all who knew him, not only for his talents asan artist, but for his many personal, good qualities, until his death, whichtook place June 8, i860.
