Aylesbury Vale, Buckinghamshire, UK. 1st May, 2021. Beautiful bluebells in the afternoon sunshine. Stillness returned to the ancient woodland of Jones Hill Wood today as HS2 have stopped felling due to the May Bank Holiday Weekend. HS2 have been felling beech trees in the ancient woodland of Jones Hill Wood despite it being the bird nesting season and that rare Barbastelle bats are known to roost in the woods. The woods are said to have inspired local author Roald Dahl to write the popular children's novel, The Fantastic Mr Fox. Credit: Maureen McLean/Alamy
