I believe thatit is the best form in which to use arsenical ELEVATED PLANT FOR MAKING BORDEAUX ON A LARGE SCALE SPRAYING 63 Insecticides. — Sometimes it may be desirable toapply a treatment for insects alone, without the botherof making the regulation Bordeaux. Here are a fewstandard formulas suited for chewing insects : Paris green : Two pounds of quicklime, one-quarterpound of Paris green, fifty gallons of water. Keepmixture well agitated while spraj-ing. (Xot so safeas arsenate of lead on tender foliage of peach, etc. j Arsenate of lead : This can be made at home, asfollows: Take twelve ounces of acetate of lead, fourounces of arsenate of soda, and fifty gallons of the acetate of lead into a gallon of water in awooden pail; in another wooden pail put the arsenateof soda in two quarts of water, \^hen both aredissolved, pour them together into the spray tankcontaining the required amoimt of water. A whiteprecipitate of lead arsenate immediately forms in thetank and the mixture is ready to be applied. Thisremains in suspension long
