I found them at one point skirting thewet woods; in another they grew in the swampy portions ofthe meadows, giving a glorious effect to the plant groupsthere gathered. Here I saw the black butterfly, Papilio troi-lus, as shown in illustration on page 57, flitting down uponthese blossoms, dividing its time, one moment here and thenext moment on the boneset. I have just observed thisexquisite swallow-tail as it flits away, to be suddenly replacedby the allied species, philenor.
