River Thames whale. Museum display of the backbone from the skeleton of a female northern bottlenose whale (Hyperoodon ampullatus) that became stranded in the River Thames, London, in January 2006. The whale died during rescue attempts, and the body was later presented to the Natural History Museum. The skeleton was put on display at the museum in January 2007.
