Cemlyn Bay, Anglesey: the crescent-shaped shingle bar & brackish lagoon fed by fresh water are a National Nature Reserve owned by the National Trust & leased to the North Wales Wildlife Trust. From 1930s-'60s reclusive aviation pioneer Captain Vivian Hewitt maintained his estate & high-walled garden at Bryn Aber at the far (W) end of bar as a private nature reserve. In 1828 Anglesey's first lifeboat was launched from Cemlyn Bay by James & Frances Williams.
