Scotland, Ayrshire, Prestwick, 09 April 2021 . Prestwick Cross
The settlement became a Baronial Barony in the 12th Century, allowing it to hold markets. The first mention of the Mercat Cross dates from Burgh Records from 1473, where it was described as broken. At this time, the cross was probably made of wood. The current stone cross was built in 1777.
