A recruit of Delta Company, 1st Recruit Training Battalion, participates in the Water Survival Basic Qualification at Marine Corps Recruit Depot San Diego, Dec. 4. Recruits were instructed to not touch the bottom of the pool at any time during the swim or they would instantly fail and have to return for remedial training to try again. Annually, more than 17,000 males recruited from the Western Recruiting Region are trained at MCRD San Diego. Delta Company is scheduled to graduate Feb. 2.
