Abbot Hall, situated just east of the Academy, is afour-story brick building (78 X 42 feet), with a slatedgable roof. It was built in 1855 at a cost of about$17,000, and named to commemorate the services ofthe much-loved Dr. Abbot. This building containstwenty-six large, well-ventilated rooms, most of themcontaining an alcove (71 X 0| feet), which in the day-time may be shut off from the study by curtains.
