The flag attached to the Queen Marker's skiff flown during the Swan Upping on the River Thames

The colourful and traditional ‘Swan Upping’ is a centuries old annual event in England. Swan Upping takes place with a flotilla of six traditional Thames wooden rowing skiffs in July on the third Monday starting at Sunbury-on-Thames, a few miles west of London to Abingdon near the famous university city of Oxford. The journey takes five days. All swans (Britain’s largest bird) are owned by the Crown.
