Statue of Takashi Nagase (Fujiwara) at JEATH War Museum, Kanchanaburi, Thailand


Next to the exit of the JEATH War Museum stands the statue of Mr. Takashi Nagase (Fujiwara) from Okayama City, Japan who was once an interpreter for the Japanese military police. Following the Japanese surrender, he was sent to search for graves of allied He devoted much of his life after the war to trying to atone for the actions of the Japanese military and became a Buddhist monk. He established the River Kwae Peace Foundation that has given thousands of scholarships to poor students in Kanchanburi.
