Representatives from the Defense POW/MIA Accounting Agency (DPAA), Outreach and Communications directorate toured Hampton Veterans Affairs Medical Center (Hampton VAMC). They met with senior leaders to discuss national VA initiatives, like the VA response to COVID-19, connecting homeless and at-risk Veterans with the resources they need, and meeting with a staff member whose father is missing in action, as well as the facility's unique programs, Nov. 18, 2022. The Hampton VAMC led the way in telehealth services during the pandemic and conducted over 115,000 virtual visits, significantly improving access to healthcare and telework opportunities. The Medical Center also serves 69,000 unique veterans and is the most extensive Women's Health Program, with over 18,000 veteran women enrolled. The main goal for the VAMC is to provide at-risk Veterans the resources they need to survive by connecting them to social services such as mental and, healthcare and housing. DPAA representatives met with Nurse Practioner Kerry Beasley; her father went missing in action in 1972 when his plane was shot down in Vietnam. Beasley said she is grateful for DPAA's continued efforts in keeping her updated on her case and the agency's mission to provide the fullest accounting for our missing personnel to their families and the nation. DPAA representatives toured the Spinal Cord Injury Center and the Community Living Center to include a new barbershop set to open in the fiscal year 2023. It will serve the Veterans at the Hampton VAMC and the community
