The shell is delicate and thin, and is covered with a fine, greenish gray epidermis, which easily falls off. The outer lip is thin and but slightly reflected. The length is 46 millimeters. We turn back now to certain Spindle-shells, the first of which is Chrysodomus amidn- ^^- ^^^ ^*^ tus, Dall, the Unspotted Spin-dle-shell, shown in Figure166. It has a large, thin,white shell, with a promi-nent nucleus at the top, whileit is marked with numerousnarrow revolving fine species was dredgednear the Santa BarbaraIslands. Chrysodomus dirus, Rve.,the Dire Spindle-shell, Fig-ure 94, was described andfigured on a preceding 166. XI (*) ji^ hardly seems to deserve.
