The statue commemorating the Prince Consort, who is portrayed with a dog and holding a gun, was unveiled on the 15th October 1867 (The 28th anniversary of the date the Queen proposed to him on 15 October 1839) by Queen Victoria and was designed by the sculptor William Theed (1804-91)
