Plant globose, sometimes depressed, dull green, 6 to cm. in diameter, to 4 cm. high; ribs 9 to 11, obtuse; spines all radial, pinkish to brown, flattened, puberulent, 1 to cm. long, somewhat spreading; flowers 4 cm. long, the tube rather short; inner perianth-segments nearly white; scales on the ovary and flower-tube scattered, broadly ovate, scarious-margined. Type locality: Province of San Luis Potosi, Argentina.
