Volcano on Moon. Artwork of a volcano erupting on the surface of the Moon around 3 billion years ago. This period was the peak of lunar activity. The valley in which the lava is flowing is known as Vallis Scroterii, or Schroter's Valley. All volcanic and seismological activity on the Moon is thought to have ceased around 2 billion years ago, and it is now a geologically dead world.
