Oxo drinks on Terra Nova. Expedition members in wet-weather gear drinking Oxo meat extract on the deck of the Terra Nova as it sailed to Antarctica. This photograph was obtained in 1910 during the British Antarctic Expedition (1910-1913). Also known as the Terra Nova Expedition, the primary expedition objectives were scientific. Oxo was one of several commercial companies that provided branded supplies. Led by Robert Falcon Scott, the shore party of 34 landed at Cape Evans in January 1911. They spent two seasons exploring on and around the Ross Ice Shelf. Scott and four others died in 1912 returning from their journey to the South Pole.
