Parotid gland tumour (swelling below the ear) affecting an 87-year-old woman. This is a case of a Warthin's tumour (adenolymphoma) of the parotid gland. This is a benign tumour that has a strong association with cigarette smoking. The parotid gland is one of the salivary glands. In humans there are three sets of paired salivary glands. They are exocrine glands, secreting saliva and mucus to help break down food in the mouth.
