Common sandpiper (Actitis hypoleucos) foraging for food while wading in a pool. This is a wading bird that inhabits coastal areas. It is a migrant, spending the northern summer in Europe and Asia and heading to Australasia and southern parts of Africa and Asia in the northern winter. It feeds on molluscs, crustaceans and insects. Photographed in Ein Afek Nature Reserve, Israel in September.
