Prehistoric carving. The lines carved on this rock are thought to represent female genitals (specifically two vulvas), and are an early example of human sexuality. It was carved by people from the prehistoric Aurignacian culture. These early humans lived in Europe in the Late Stone Age (Upper Paleolithic), between 45,000 and 30,000 years ago. This carving was found in the Abri Cellier cave, in the Dordogne region of south-western France. This specimen is held at the French National Museum of Prehistory (MNP), Eyzies-de-Tayac, France.
