The small exercise cages (Tiger Cages) at the former Cold War Stasi prison Hohenschönhausen, Berlin. The outside exercise areas, called Tiger Cages by the prisoners, are cell-like roofless compartments (12 in all) in which prisoners could exercise for 30 minutes. Officers could watch each cell via CCTV or from a walkway above the compound. Prisoners were forbidden to stand still, touch the wall, talk or sing whilst in the cages.
