Since the second half of the XVII century, Morsha has become a large trading village with a pier on the Tsne River. Every year bread, honey, fish, furs, lard, linen were transported through shipping routes from Morsha to other cities of Russia. There was the first pier at this place. Up to thousand boatmen who lived right there, in dugouts, on the shore of the Central Sea, worked here during navigation. Со второй половины XVII века Морша стала крупным торговым селом, имеющим пристань на реке Цне. Ежегодно через судоходные пути из Морши в другие города России переправлялись хлеб, мед, рыба, пушнина, сало, полотно. На этом месте была первая пристань. В навигацию здесь работали до 3,5 тысячи бурлаков, живших тут же, в землянках, на берегу Цны.
