Curepipe – Sivananda Avenue is closed (except to residents)
Phase 2 of the Metro Express! Phase 2 of the Metro Express network development covers km of track which will connect Rose Hill to Curepipe up to Jan Palach South, and will complete the connection between Victoria Station and Place de l’Immigration in Port Louis. Phase 2A, which was started during Phase 1, aims to connect Rose Hill Central to the Quatre Bornes Central Station and then to Trianon, with the overall project scheduled to be complete at the end of 2022. The current challenges lie at the interface between the project and the road network. These interfaces are located at the following sites: the Hillcrest interchange at Sodnac Quatre Bornes, the roundabout and shopping centre at Jumbo Phoenix, the former Phoenix Les Halles, the Palmerstone interchange at Vacoas. MEL continues to work closely with all parties involved to find the best solution to the critical reconfigurations of the road network, ensuring they are properly integrated with the rail network – Sivananda Avenue is closed (except to residents) between the junction of the A10 and Royal Road, and the junction of Sivananda Avenue and the Floréal fuel station. The main alternative route is Georges Guibert Street and there are also some minor alternate routes that can be used. The construction is due to start on the 1st of June 2020 and scheduled to finish at the end project.
