Entrada sandstone cliff, upper Ute Canyon, Colorado National Monument

The very upper part of Ute Canyon in the Colorado National Monument. Here, the creek has easily cut through the sandstone of the Entrada Formation (reddish rock) but is barely making a dent in the concrete-hard Kayenta Formation stone (gray rock). The Kayenta-Entrada contact is clearly visible at the far end of the creek bed.
