Henry Maxwell, his paternialgrandfather, was a native of Lancas-ter and one of the early settlers ofCumberLind county, having ? bought. land and started the settlement ofthe town now known as Mechanics-burg. Andrew Maxwell, fMh-er of Wilson Maxwell, was bornin Cumberland county and was a tan-ner for about 15 .years. He thenrelinquished that business aaid startedfarming. Since 1844 he resided inPerry county, until hi? death. H.
