Interacting galaxy NGC 5331. Hubble Space Telescope (HST) image of two interacting galaxies, collectively known as NGC 5331. Located about 450 million light years away in the constellation of Virgo, the galaxies are beginning to join arms. NGC 5331 is very bright in the infrared wavelength, with about a hundred billion times the luminosity of the Sun. Image obtained on 22nd December 2001.
