This painting, titled Going to Work, was done by the French artist Jean Francois Millet (1814-1875). At the age of 35, he went to Barbizon (with which his best work is associated). His painting is often laborious and crude, but his masterpieces never fail of that touch of poetry that places them on the highest plane of art.
