Whenwith the biting file you have got the right shape, go all over theneck (including, of course, the edges of the finger-board) with afiner file, then finish with a scraper and sand-paper. Now witha file round off the upper edges of the finger-board and the nutat all its angles, as you see it done on a finished fiddle ^ Theneck (including the edges of the finger-board) is then thoroughlysand-papered with different finenesses of paper till the requisitesmoothness is attained, then varnish and polish it as laid down in 300 VIOLIN-MAKING : AS IT WAS AND paperof oil.
