Metal detector enthusiast Peter Beasley claims he has found a royal crown jewel belonging to William the Conquerer's eldest son. Retired bricklayer Peter, 67, pulled the 26g 24-carat ring in a muddy field in Petersfield, Hants. The distinctive ring has Duke Robert's seal engraved on it and was found on land formally owned by William the Conquerer - where the Royal Family used to hunt. Pic Mike walker, 2008
