Photograph of the constellation of Taurus, with the constellation stars enhanced. Taurus, the Bull, is the second of the twelve constellations or signs of the Zodiac. Its brightest star is the 1st magnitude, red giant star Aldebaran, seen here just below centre & with an orange tint. Taurus is a very ancient constellation, possibly deriving from bull worship in early Mediterranean civilisations In Greek mythology, Taurus was the snow-white bull which carried Europa off, only to be revealed as Zeus in disguise. The Sun is in Taurus from 20 April to 20 May.
