Neolithic flint mine artefacts. Pottery found at a neolithic flint mine at Casa Montero, Vicalvaro, Madrid, Spain. Carbon dating was carried out on this pottery to date the mine to between 5500-6000BC. The flint mine, found in 2003, is the first Neolithic flint mine discovered in Spain. It consists of nearly four thousand vertical shafts, averaging nine metres deep and a metre in diameter.
